The Infrastructure

The Location & area:

     The Government of the Republic of Sudan has given an area of 110,000 square meters in the South of the capital, Khartoum, to establish the Institute and its annexes, in a location where all the services needed by the Institute such as (roads, electricity, water,  communications, etc…) are provided, and it undertook to build it and provide it with allservices, as stipulated in the agreement signed between the Government of Sudan and theArab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization. And thanks to the continuous efforts to upgrade the environment at the Institute, the Institute’s image has become one of the most prestigious and sophisticated University Education Environments in Sudan.

Halls and laboratories:

       The Institute now has ten Halls, with capacities varying between twenty, fifty and one hundred students. Students and learners are distributed according to the requirements of the Educational Programs and their various purposes. The Smart Board System has been introduced in addition to CDs, software, methodological books and accompanying enhancements; such as dictionaries and the Teacher’s Guide are included in the teaching methods. The Institute teachers have been trained to use them.

The Mosque:

     There is a large Mosque in the Institute with a capacity of about three hundred worshipers, during which prayers are performed, and recitation and Islamic knowledge rings are held.

 The Institute’s Library:

     The Library of the Khartoum International Institute for Arabic Language was established

with the establishment of the Institute in 1974. The Library supports the Institute’s Mission to spread the Arabic Language and prepare its Teachers. The library provides Scientific Materials and services to achieve this goal.

     The Library includes about twenty-five thousand books, including the Arabic language and its literature with a special interest in Arabic for non-Arabic Speakers, as well as materials in: Education and Psychology, Islamic Studies, and Arab-Islamic Civilization.

      The Library follows the Open Shelves System, and adopted the Dewey Decimal System, version 21, for classification. In indexing, it adopted the (Anglo-American) indexing rules AACR. Moreover, the Library has an automatic index, and a Website that allows visitors to view the Titles of Researches conducted by students, and also the available resources and references.

     The beneficiaries of the Library are the Faculty Members of the Institute, and those who study therein. The Library also provides its services to researchers and scholars from outside

the Institute, according to specific controls. In addition, the Library provides References, Guidance, Counseling and Selective Research Services, plus External Borrowing Services to the Institute’s affiliates.

     The Library is open six days a week, from 08:00 am to 08:00 pm (except Fridays & Public Holidays). On Saturdays it is open from 10:00 am to 03:00 pm.

     In addition to the various sources and references in the various Arabic Language Sciences, the Library has devoted a section for the Postgraduate Studies prepared by the Institute’s Diploma and Master’s students.
