Introduction:

     Needs analysis (NA) which is also lcnown as needs

assessment is an information gathering process . It plays a

vital role in the process of designing and carrying out any
language course be it Language for Specific Purposes (LSP)
or Language for General Purposes (LGP). The emergence
of NA in language planning goes back to the 1970s and its
widespread proliferation in the domain is attributable to its
adoption by the Council of Europe's modem language
project. Tudor, 1996 stated that the development of a
perception of need within communicative learning teaching
(CLT) in the 1970s had a widespread influence on NA work.
NA had been acknowledged by many scholars; among them
are Munby, 1978: Ritcherich and Chancerel, 1987;
